The 32 ms figure is an acoustic round trip — a click played into the room, captured, streamed and measured coming out of a phone speaker. Median of four runs, 26–39.5 ms, default buffer depth. The segment split inside the bar is indicative; the total is measured. The remote figure is the design target for the encrypted relay path and varies with the listener’s connection.

Receivers nobody wants to run
Body-pack FM and infrared kits mean charging, handing out, sanitising and chasing. Most sit in a drawer because the desk that lends them is not always staffed.
Loops that only cover part of the room
Induction loops help the people with the right hearing aid, in the right seats. Everyone else — and every visitor without one — is out of luck.
A stream that arrives seconds late
Standard live streaming buffers for stability, so the audio lands two to ten seconds behind the room. Useful for a recording. Useless for someone sitting in it.

Encode in 2.5-millisecond frames
Each channel gets its own real-time thread that does nothing but encode. It runs a low-delay codec, cut into 2.5 ms frames — short enough that the encoder is never the reason you are behind. There is no garbage collector anywhere near the audio path, so there is no pause to design around.

Send it twice: once to the room, once to the world
In the building, each listening phone gets its own stream of lightweight datagrams sent straight to it — never broadcast, which is what makes Wi-Fi audio stutter. Off-site, the venue box dials out through an encrypted outbound tunnel to the relay, which seals every packet for that one listener and fans it out. Your firewall never needs an inbound rule.

Play it with a buffer the listener can see
The app decodes inside the audio callback and rides a jitter buffer sized for the path it is on: shallow on the venue Wi-Fi, deeper over the internet. The buffer depth, packet counts and losses are on screen, so when someone says “it’s choppy” you get a number instead of an argument.

The listener never picks a network. The app already knows.
Press Stream. The app probes the venue’s local path first, and falls back to the encrypted relay if it isn’t there. There is no mode switch to explain to an audience.

Know the box is fine before anyone asks
Each venue reports its own health — packets flowing, channels up, who is subscribed — straight into the console, over the same tunnel it streams on.
Turn remote listening off per venue
Some events should stay in the room. Flip remote off for a venue and every token request for it is refused, instantly, whatever the app thinks.
Block a device, disable an account
A blocked device is dropped by the venue box itself and its hellos are refused. Disabling an account kills its sessions and its next token in one action.

Everything that leaves the building is sealed to one listener for one session. There is no URL to forward, no stream key to leak, and nothing listening on your public IP.
Sealed per session
Remote audio is encrypted with modern authenticated encryption under a key derived for that one listening session. A packet captured off the wire decrypts for nobody else.
Tokens that expire
Access is a short-lived signed token tied to the account, the venue and the channel. The app renews it while you listen and it dies when you stop.
No inbound rule at the venue
The venue box dials out to the relay. Nothing at your site accepts a connection from the internet, so there is no port for anyone to find.
The room stays optional
Remote listening is a switch you own, per venue. Turn it off and the venue becomes an on-site-only system again, with no code change.

Do our visitors have to install something?
Yes — Adtie Aura is a native app on Android and iOS, because that is what makes 32 ms and screen-off playback possible. A browser tab cannot hold a real-time audio path open the same way. Most venues put a QR code on the seat card or the order of service; the app is free and the venue shows up in it automatically.
Will this survive our Wi-Fi?
It is built for the failure mode that kills most Wi-Fi audio: broadcast traffic. Adtie Aura sends each listening phone its own copy of the stream, which lets the access point retry lost frames instead of dropping them. That is the difference between choppy and clean. Capacity is still bounded by your access points, so we count them with you before anyone signs anything.
How far behind the room is it, really?
32 milliseconds on the venue Wi-Fi, measured as a full acoustic round trip rather than a protocol figure — click played into the room, streamed, and recorded coming out of a phone. Four runs landed between 26 and 39.5 ms. Close enough that watching a stage and listening on a phone stay in sync.
Do we have to open ports on our firewall?
No. The venue box opens an encrypted outbound tunnel to the relay and keeps it up. Nothing at your site accepts an inbound connection from the internet. If you never enable remote listening, the box does not talk to the outside world at all.
Can we stop someone listening?
Three ways, and all of them are immediate. Block a device and the venue box drops it and refuses its next hello. Disable an account and its sessions die with it. Turn remote off for a whole venue and every token request for it is refused, whatever any app has cached.
Does it work with our mixing desk?
If your desk can send a line-level or USB output somewhere, it can send it here. We take the outputs you already produce — main mix, a speech send, an interpreter booth — and carry each one as its own channel. Nothing about your existing mix changes.
Does this satisfy our accessibility obligations?
It is a strong assistive-listening option and it removes most of the reasons people avoid the ones you already have. Whether it satisfies a specific regulation depends on your country and your building, and often on whether a hearing-aid-compatible option must also exist. We will tell you plainly where Adtie Aura fits and where it does not — bring your access consultant to the site call.
What happens when the internet drops?
Everyone in the building keeps listening. The on-site path never leaves your network, so an outage only affects people listening remotely — and the app moves them back to the local path automatically the moment they walk in the door.
Who owns the audio?
You do. Adtie Aura does not record, store or archive the stream anywhere. Packets are forwarded and forgotten; the relay keeps who is connected, not what they heard.
